Michigan Corn, Soybean, Wheat Stocks Higher than 2015

On June 1, 2016, Michigan corn stocks totaled 93.9 million bushels, 6 percent higher than a year earlier, according to Marlo Johnson, director, USDA, NASS, Great Lakes Regional Office. About 48 percent of the corn was stored on farms. The third quarter disappearance was 80.5 million bushels, compared with 85.2 million bushels a year earlier.

Soybean stocks on June 1, 2016, were 20.0 million bushels. That was 19 percent higher than stocks a year earlier. The third quarter indicated disappearance was 16.2 million bushels. Farm stocks of soybeans were 6.0 million bushels.

Wheat stocks on June 1, 2016, were 16.1 million bushels, 23 percent above a year ago. Approximately 98 percent of wheat stocks were in commercial storage. Fourth quarter indicated disappearance was 8.3 million bushels, 16.1 percent of supply.

U.S. corn stocks in all positions on June 1, 2016, totaled 4.72 billion bushels, up 6 percent from June 1, 2015. Of the total stocks, 2.47 billion bushels were stored on farms, up 9 percent from a year earlier. Off-farm stocks, 2.25 billion bushels, were up 3 percent from a year ago. The March - May 2016 indicated disappearance was 3.10 billion bushels, compared with 3.30 billion bushels during the same period last year. Soybeans stored in all positions on June 1, 2016, totaled 870 million bushels, up 39 percent from June 1, 2015. Soybean stocks stored on farms were estimated at 281 million bushels, up 14 percent from a year ago. Off-farm stocks, 589 million bushels, were up 55 percent from last June. Indicated disappearance for the March - May 2016 quarter totaled 661 million bushels, down 5 percent from the same period a year earlier. Old crop all wheat stored in all positions on June 1, 2016, totaled 981 million bushels, up 30 percent from a year ago. On-farm stocks were estimated at 197 million bushels, up 27 percent from last June. Off-farm stocks, 784 million bushels, were up 31 percent from a year ago. The March - May 2016 indicated disappearance was 391 million bushels, up 1 percent from the same period a year earlier.
